One

I am trying to find power that will keep me going, even though I know every inch of every trail in town. I rode with a new guy yesterday, a transplant from Gainesville. He could not say enough positive things about our Tallahassee trails. He loves the fact that they are so long, and the technical climbs are a welcome change. Where he used to ride, there are a few trails a couple miles in length, and he had to ride a lot of pavement to connect them.

It seemed kind of stupid to complain to a guy that loved the area so much so I, "quit my belly aching" as my old Dad used to say. My legs felt like lead and I remembered the new guy was on a single speed, and never more than a couple feet off my wheel. I gave him a little heat on some of the more fun stuff out at Caddy, but he was always there.

He has a pretty unique set up, both brakes on the right, and a pipe affixed to the left, with a four inch PVC sleeve to fit the spot where his left arm would be. Did I mention he had only one arm? We used to ride with a guy that had a prosthetic leg a few years ago...he used to kick my ass too.

Last time Juancho felt like this, he took me riding and easily whooped me down. "I'll offer the service but I'll have to start charging" is what I usually say at the Truck Stop.

I hope I didn't give the wrong impression. I was really stoked, the guy is a great rider, and a cool dude!

whatever. I'm not impressed. Think of the grams he is saving without the other arm. I call performance enhancement.

Your words say "stoked" but we know deep down that...

Single speeds have taken my town
Taken my trail
Taken my speed
Taken my trials
Taken my climbs
Taken my blog
Left me with life in hell

you are writing a lot these days, what does that mean

Sounds like you are looking at the one armed man and trying to find a reason to be happy you have two, or not one, or to find a reason to shift your attention. Are you riding towards something or away from something?

That's deep. You aren't by any chance David Carradine are you?

Thanks Juancho, man I didn't even tag up, and you put him/her away like a pot holder. Damn funny too.
I hate to admit it but annony, has some accurate insights.
There is a lot going on and I am riding away and hopefully toward something. The problem is...I have no idea what it is, which makes the pedaling a tad less urgent.
And what are you hiding from masked man?

Lars, check me out, I'm air guitaring! actually air-bass is easier for me.

Oh, yeah, deep thoughts...

WB, just ride up on it(whatever it may be) and scare it into submission.

Dude, you look crazed in that picture, like you're considering where to plant the next blast. I like the crazy look and the new riding partner. If you're starting a cult, I'm definitely NOT in, but I hear Juancho's garage is up for redesignation. From Tavern to Temple isn't such a big leap.

I dig all these ideas! Even though patience is not my strong suit, I know there is an oasis out there somewhere. I am going to slog along muttering to myself until a mirage is turns out to be a pool of water.

btw I am sure I have mentioned this before but, all the pictures/video on this site are taken with my motorola razor phone. I like the blurry spooky vibe.

Whenever you have truth it must be given with love, or the message and the messenger will be rejected

You can give it any way you want to, annony. We have an open forum here. But if you don't want to be deleted please deliver the truth in a witty way.
Also while you are dispensing these golden nuggets of wisdom maybe you could put up a screen name. It's kinda hard to be taken as the last word on truth when you are hiding behind the anonymous tag.
So seriously ...bring the truth!

c'mon man, we're all anony in some special way...

You said, "golden nuggets"
