Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own

I haven't really been happy for a while. When you find an obsession that saves your life, it's painful when the flame dims. Most have experienced a fall from grace and a return to the flock. I have had the privilege taken away by injuries. I have had professional obligations deprive me. During those times, all I could think about was riding with the boys. This is why the current slump is so strange. Call it monotony, call it spoiled American bullshit, the pain is real. The symptom has defeated the cure.

Everyone knows that you will be better off after a ride. Good or bad, at least you turned some pedals.

Today, I didn't want to get on my bike, I just couldn't find my stoke. My friends wouldn't let me get away with it. Against all intuition I had fun. I felt like a cyclist for the first time in weeks.

Our crew is a little scattered right now, and that has played a big role in my attitude. The important thing is, I had a good ride.
It's all their fault.

Thanks Fellas.

I keep wondering why on earth it is that doing the things we KNOW will make us feel better are so damn hard to do.
I'm glad you jumped the hurdle, Brother B. Perhaps that will make it a little easier next time.

Hi.I'm here from Ms. Moon.(but I have lurked around for awhile...sorry)
I'm just wondering, did you take this photo? I am entranced!

No, I found it on line. I searched "shadow cyclist" and it came up. Pretty cool huh?

I hear ya, HWB. I had a cycling accident Monday that caused me to black out and sent me to the hospital via ambulance. They say I have a head injury and neck sprain. Frankly, I have always thought my head was injured, how else could I explain it all? :D

So, I know what you're saying. I want to get back on the bike, since I miss it (it's been what? 4 days) and yet it's also the last thing I want to do. I am a little gun-shy right now, but plan on going slowly/carefully (that part is for Ms. Moon) this weekend. Injuries suck and get in the way, you're right.

Glad for you that you're back in the saddle! Soak it up.

Whoa, Nicol! I didn't know that! Are you okay?
Yes. Take it slowly. Bless your heart!

Thanks Ms. Moon. I am fine. Really. Just a bit shaken by it. Like HWB, I am going to have to crawl back into the light, minus cookies! :)

That was for HW. It's getting hard to tell which blog I'm on.

I just realized somehow Juancho has become my internal monologue!

Nicol, take your time Girl, if you come back too soon and feel twitchy it'll take longer to get your confidence back.
I have had multiple head injuries and I'm fine, I'm fine had multiple head and I'm fine multiple.

Nicol, it's true. I know of at least two head injuries that WB has sustained. And that was just on one Wednesday ride.

Dang, HWB, you called me out on the Roadies blog. OK, you can find the story on my new bloggy that may go bye- bye sometime, so I didn't tell anyone about it. I am just not sure yet I want one long term. It's under, "A Jumbled Mess".

Actually, I don't think it works to google it, so you can click on my name and get to "Newfangled" that way.

The whole accident story is there. :)
